Why Now? Episode 1: Pulling Back the Curtain on Political Campaigns

A conversation with sociologist Daniel Laurison about his new book, “Producing Politics: Inside the Exclusive Campaign World Where the Privileged Few Shape Politics for All of Us”

In this debut episode of “Why Now?” I interview Daniel Laurison, Associate Professor of Sociology at Swarthmore College, who studies the connections between economic inequality, racial inequality, and racism in American society and how privilege shapes our political culture. Daniel is also a political junkie like me: not only does he write about politics, but when he was a post-doc at Berkeley, Daniel worked on the historic 2008 campaign that made Barack Obama the first Black American to become President of the United States.

So as we count down to the 2022 midterms, listen in and learn what is behind the curtain in America’s political campaigns.
